The aim is to create a beautiful and spectacular complex on the city’s harbour front that unites education and research facilities with musical institutions.
Among these is the Aalborg Symphony Orchestra who will now have a new concert hall. Furthermore a large part of the building will function as a permanent research and education facility for the Music Conservatory of Northern Jutland, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra, Institute of Music and Musical Therapy at Aalborg University as well as architecture and design training.
The COOP Himmelb(l)au proposal was chosen in a competition, and the Music Hall is expected to be ready in early 2008.
Building clients are the Music Hall Foundation and Danish National Research and Education Buildings.
