In the summer of 2008, the church Vesterø Havnekirke on the island of Læsø was resurrected as a treatment centre and spa, and since then psoriasis patients from all over the country have travelled to Læsø to be treated with the mineral-rich salt of the island.
Læsø Spa

Vesterø Havnekirke is not especially old, but when it was built in the 1950's, the style of the Middle Ages was chosen. When, fifty some years later, the church was retired from use, the nave was replaced by a new building, reflecting the surrounding landscape of dunes. The church tower, however, is preserved as a landmark for the old church and the new spa.

It is not possible to stay at the spa, but the many visitors can easily find accommodation in the island's many holiday houses and apartments. In this way it is not only the expected 30.000 patients but also Læsø as a whole that has been given a major boost by Læsø Spa.
