Innovation and change in the built environment should increasingly be driven by research-based knowledge. Good research is characterised by its ability to offer nuanced understanding of problems and complex issues.
On a scientific and independent basis Realdania supports the production of comprehensive and operational knowledge of the challenges and the development potentials within the built environment. Moreover, the research activities should also help create a qualified knowledge base to support both public debate and decision makers.
Realdania focuses primarily on applied research derived from relevant problems and conducted in dialogue, or even direct partnership, with the practitioners. In the long term the research is expected to contribute to the positive development of the built environment.
The following four research centers have so far been established within the framework of Realdania Research:
- Centre for Public Space Research
- Centre for Strategic Urban Research
- Centre for Housing and Welfare
- Centre for Management Studies of the Building Process
Realdania has invested a total of approx. EUR 11.7 million in the establishment and operation of the four research centers.
