This is the plan with the Bryghusprojekt in Copenhagen – presented by Realdania in the form of an outline proposal in the beginning of April 2008.
The project is composed of a multi-functional building with a number of external activities, primarily initiated by the Danish Architecture Centre (DAC); with a café and restaurant, housing and offices for rent. In addition, there will be a large underground car park.
The idea is to gather many activities around the development in one building; a building of outstanding architectural quality. At the same time, the building and its open areas and playground will help bring more life to the area around the Bryghusgrund, enhancing the link between the inner city and Copenhagen harbour. Since the start of the project in 2006, there has been a dialogue with the City of Copenhagen, and it has been agreed with the municipality to involve the public the local plan process, and before the framework of the project is completely finalised.
