The idea is to establish an artistic collaboration between Herning Museum of Art, Ensemble MidtVest and the Socle du Monde Biennale under one roof. The aim is to create a cultural institution that will contribute to the development of the region through collaboration between art and music and creative alliances with businesses.

For Herning Center of the Arts the new building also means a greater capacity for exhibitions and storage. In a new up-to-date building the museum will finally be able to enjoy the full potential of its Manzoni collection. Furthermore it will be possible to display world class collections on loan.

Steven Hull Architects was chosen in an international competition. The company has previous experience in building for art and culture – one example is the Helsinki museum of modern art, KIASMA.

Building client is the Herning Center of the Arts Project Foundation.
