Returns on assets and investments go to financing our activities. Returns must:
-
Secure the true value of the initial start capital
-
Pay taxes
-
Pay for philanthropic activities
-
Pay the costs of administration
Realdania's investment assets at the end of 2010 amounted to EUR 3.1 billion.
Spreading the investments across different classes of assets makes it possible to improve the relationship between return and risk. This makes for greater stability of the returns in relation to global economic development, and it makes it possible to maintain the essential idea: to manage the assets appropriately, so that their true value is retained over a long time horizon.
Today four different classes of assets are included in Realdania's investment strategy. These are:
-
Listed shares
-
Bonds
-
Real property
-
Private equity
All four classes of assets include both Danish and international portfolios. At the end of 2010, the investment assets were divided between 46 portfolios, of which 11 portfolios were invested in listed shares, 9 portfolios were invested in bonds, 10 in real property and 15 in private equity. One portfolio was invested in Danske Bank.
